What will I Learn?
Elegant, neat traditional handmade tailored lampshades, whether for business or pleasure, would you like to learn all the stitches and techniques required to make your own handmade tailored shades to a professional standard? During this workshop you will complete a traditional handmade classic tailored lampshade, either on the straight or bias grain of the fabric depending on design choice, with a balloon lining. You will learn about a variety of design options for the same frame, how to make a unique pattern for the perfect fit, how to cut fabric for stretch and mobility, how to fit face fabric to the frame perfectly so that the seams are in line with the struts, how to make a balloon lining from a template, all about handmade bias and attaching drop down trimmings and much, much more …
When choosing fabrics for tailored lampshades think about how you would like to showcase your fabric. unlike other lampshade designs that require lighter woehgt fabrics, depending on your design choice, a range of fabric weights can be used to make tailored lampshades. You can also have oodles of fun with drop down and a range of handmade trimmings. Trimmings are optional, yet very much encouraged.
This is a Level 1 lampshade making workshop. There are several ways to learn this technique. Jacqueline teaches how to make Tailored Lampshade in 1-2-1, small group, master class and virtual workshops. 1-2-1, master classes and virtual zoom workshops are booked by special arrangment. Small group workshops are scheduled periodically throughout the year.

Who will be teaching me?
Jacqueline is a creative, talented soft furnishings designer/creator, with over 20 years of teaching experience. Jacqueline is passionate about soft furnishings and has a wealth of knowledge that she is eager to share.
Is this workshop for me?
This is a Level 1 lampshade making workshop. Only minimal hand sewing experience is necessary to make this style of lampshade, therefore this course is suitable for both the beginner and more experienced, enthusiastic sewer. Jacqueline will build and customise your experience in line with your ability and previous exerience.
Where will I be learning?
Most lampshade workshops either 1-2-1, virtual, small group and master classes are held in Jacqueline’s own workroom in Ebberston, North Yorks.
What's included?
Most lampshade workshops held in Jacqueline’s workroom include a frame, cotton lawn lining, specific workshop notes all specialist sundries, and a light lunch. You will need to bring your face fabric and any additional trimmings you would like to use. Private hosted workshops may have special requirments.
