What will I Learn?
Often when we think about bespoke scatter cushions it’s the classic piped cushions, that immediately springs to mind and there is a reason for that … well it is after all a classic! However a cushion zip does not need to be hidden in the bottom seam, disguised by piping … zips and sliders come in all sorts of colours and styles deserving of centre stage in an array of design options.
The main focus for this creative zips scatter cushion workshop is to explore making scatter cushions using a variety of designs and techniques to sew zips into scatter cushions. Sewing zips neatly and affectively can be tricky at first, which can be overwhelming for the beginner sewer. There are however, oodles of creative design options to make gorgeous cushions using a variety of cushions styles suitable for hidden or feature zips … the only limitation is your imagination.
This is a Level 1 cushion making workshop. Jacqueline has an array of samples for initial inspiration based on 3 specific techniques. Together with Jacqueline you will explore a number of ways to sew zips into your face fabric before completing your first scatter cushion. Depending on your previous sewing experience and the designs you choose you may be able to complete a second cushion in one day.
Jacqueline teaches this workshop as 1-2-1, one day, or as part of the Scatter cushion master class.

Who will be teaching me?
Jacqueline is a creative, talented soft furnishings designer/creator, with over 20 years of teaching experience. Jacqueline is passionate about soft furnishings and has a wealth of knowledge that she is eager to share.
Is this workshop for me?
This is a Level 1 workshop. Only minimal machine and hand sewing experience is necessary to make this style of cushion, therefore this course is suitable for both the beginner and more experienced, enthusiastic sewer. Jacqueline will build and customise your experience in line with your ability and previous exerience.
Where will I be learning?
Most lampshade workshops either 1-2-1, virtual, small group and master classes are held in Jacqueline’s own workroom in Ebberston, North Yorks.
What's included?
Most lampshade workshops held in Jacqueline’s workroom include a frame, cotton lawn lining, specific workshop notes all specialist sundries, and a light lunch. You will need to bring your face fabric and any additional trimmings you would like to use. Private hosted workshops may have special requirments.
Ways to Learn
Jacqueline teaches all scatter cushion workshops 1-2-1. If you are new to sewing then Jacqueline recomends that you to start with a Level 1 No Zips! or Creative Cushion workshop before moving onto the Piped Cushion which is Level 2. Or prehapes a Master calss would suit you better. Please browse the options below.
