Pleated Lampshades
… sophisticated traditional pleated lampshades are the perfect accessory to your home whether Period, or Contemporary … lovely clean lined pleats love being embellished with handmade and /or drop down trimmings …
What will I Learn?
Your pleated lampshade will be cut on the straight and have a pleated lining suiting your pleating design choice. Jacqueline will show and share a range of pleating options such as open or closed knife pleats and box pleats. Drop down and / or handmade trimmings are optional. You will learn how to measure your face fabric for your pleated design choice. How to secure and tweak your pleats for accuracy and tension. Stitching to ensure your pleats remain crisp. How to add a pleated lining, add gimbal tidies, to measure, cut and prep handmade bias trim and much, much more …
When choosing suitable fabric for pleated lampshades run your finger and thumb along a fold and see if it forms a sharp crease. Finely woven fabrics emphasise the pleats better than thicker weaves when the lamp is lit. Medium weight cottons, linens and dupion silk all make fabulous pleated lampshades.
