What should I bring? Handmade Pleated/Gathered Lampshades

All course fees are inclusive of specialist materials & sundries, 100% cotton Tana Lawn for the lining & training notes.

You will need to bring:

A 20cm – 25 cm bowed empire lampshade frame for soft shades

  • You can buy these online, recover an existing one you have or find one in a charity shop. If you are unable to find something suitable please let Jacqueline know and she can organize one for you to purchase at the workshop.

2m Face Fabric

  • A light weight fabric of your choice which is floppy and easy to manipulate. Natural fibers are best, such as silk dupion or cotton tana lawn ( Liberty cotton). There will be a limited selection of fabrics to purchase at the workshop. However if you are at all unsure about your fabric selection don’t hesitate to give Jacqueline a call.
  • We recommend not using upholstery fabric or fabrics with a loose weave as these can cause dynamics that may want to be avoided when making your first shade.

1m Contrast Lining Fabric Optional

  • Off white cotton tana lawn will be available however you may bring a lightweight, floppy fabric, which contrasts or compliments your face fabric. Natural fibers are best.

2m trimming

  • This is optional, as the course will teach how to make a bias trim. However if you’d like a little bling there are oodles of fabulous choices online and in craft shops. There will be a small selection to purchase at the workshop.

Thread to match your face fabric

  • There will be some places where matching thread will be essential for a neat finish

Personal sewing Kit

  • All specialist materials will be provided but it’s nice to have your own scissors and needles etc…
